Like any reasonable person, when I think of popular toys from last century, or Justin Timberlake, or of modern pop music, I think of a New Orleans brass band. It’s just an obvious and natural connection.
No? Don’t agree?
Well then explain why this latest number from Postmodern Jukebox, a jazzy cover of Timberlake’s song “Can’t Stop the Feeling” worthy of a place on Bourbon St. during Mardi Gras, feels so natural.
Featuring Aubrey Logan on lead vocals, this is one of the more lighthearted and fun songs the group has done, which is saying something since almost all of their old-timey covers can be described that way. Why this particular pop song though? They wrote on their site, “Many have called Justin Timberlake’s ‘Can’t Stop the Feeling’ the song of the summer, so we decided to remake it in the musical style that accompanied summertime parties a century ago.” Mission accomplished.
Postmodern Jukebox will continue touring later this summer in late August and September in Australia and New Zealand, before beginning their American tour in late September in Providence, Rhose Island, ending in Mesa, Arizona at the end of November.
“Can’t Stop the Feeling” is Timberlake’s song from his upcoming animated musical Trolls, which also co-stars Anna Kendrick. Trolls comes to theaters November 4, and also features the voices of Zooey Deschanel, James Corden, John Cleese, and Gwen Stefani.
New Orleans is timeless and available to enjoy year round.
