Today’s movie theaters are overrun with reboots, re-imaginings, and unnecessary sequels we rarely ever want – of course excluding Star Wars: The Force Awakens because BB-8 is already a national treasure. Our favorite characters from movies we loved so dearly are recast, and if they don’t live up to our expectations or nostalgia, it’s hard not to feel at least a bit bummed about things. On the other hand, what if it were possible to entirely re-cast original films in an even earlier time? Sadly, it’s not but that didn’t stop New York-based illustrator and designer Peter Stults from imagining films with classic actors in the now-iconic roles we primarily use as a baseline for great movies.
There’s a gallery below of a ton of them but let’s go over a few that would be absolutely amazing.
Paul Newman as Tony Stark, Vera Miles as Pepper Potts, and James Earl Jones as Rhodey!? If this existed, we may have had a Sophie’s Choice between this and Star Wars for our favorite robotically assisted dulcet-toned badass.
Jean-Luc Godard in place of Danny Boyle is enough to make this amazing, but can you imagine a young Michael Caine as Spud!? Put him in your mind’s eye as you watch this scene.
Pam Grier as Ripley in a ’70s all-black cast with Georg Stanford Brown as Ash? Nothing against Sigourney Weaver, but if there’s an alternate dimension where this version exists, I need to go there now.
Christopher Walken as the goddamned T-1000. There are no more words needed.
If I had to choose a favorite it would be… absolutely all of them. Take a look at the gallery below and let us know what your favorites are in the comments.
