Pop Culture Characters Get Real In Photo Gallery

Ever wonder how Captain America keeps his uniform so pristine? What gets Kermit the Frog through a bad morning? Thanks to the design stylings of Portugal-based journalist Daniel Cerejo and his whimsical and supremely beautiful Instagram, you can now get the idea.

From the adorably shocked look on Yoda‘s face to the hilarious – and possibly hungover – Kermit the Frog, Cerejo captures mundane moments in the lives of the most famous superheroes and characters from pop culture. Given his collection of toys, I’d guess he has excellent taste in films and television. Cerejo’s minimalistic style and utilization of bright, monochromatic color schemes help focus the small subjects of his portraits and draw a viewer’s eye to small details they might have missed otherwise. I also note a slightly darker humor than you might be expecting from the carefree toys of kids. I can’t really see Captain America asking anyone else to buff his boots. Luke’s down expression looking at the Hershey bar could very well be that he was thinking he’d find his pal Han Solo encased in that silver foil, right?

If you take the time to head over to Cerejo’s website in addition to his Instagram,  you will find his style stays true with beautiful portraits and compositions that play fun games with light, shadow and a puckish sense of humor to keep people interested. This gallery may all be toy-centric, but definitely take the time to go explore his other work if you’re interested in photography.
