POKÉMON SUN and MOON Trailer Reveals a New Pokémon That Might Not Even Be a Pokémon

A pair of new Pokémon Sun and Moon trailers (one English, one Japanese) were released yesterday, and with them comes a bevy of new information about the games, including the reveal of a new Pokémon… that might not even be a Pokémon.

In the game’s lore, it is rumored that the Alola region is inhabited by mysterious creatures called Ultra Beasts. They are apparently more powerful than people and Pokémon and are therefore seen as a potential threat to both, so they are rightly feared. The first one we know of is UB-01, which has a glass-like-but-amorphous body and moves like a young girl. There are supposedly more Ultra Beasts out there, so we can’t wait for UB-40.

We are also announced to a new team (a non-evil one, thankfully) called the Aether Foundation, who strives to learn more about Ultra Beasts. They have created their own island, Aether Paradise, where they live with refugee Pokémon and carry out their research.

The new videos also revealed some new non-mythically-strong Pokémon as well: The Alolan Raticate, like its darker Ratata counterpart, has new gray fur, and its cheeks appear to be absolutely stuffed with something (perhaps rage). There’s also the strangely-named Type: Null, which seems Mewtwo-like in that it was created by humans “to synthesize the strengths of various Pokémon, enabling it to adapt to any situation.” Finally, there’s Jangmo-o, a small Dragon-type Pokémon that’s diminutive in size, but not in work ethic.

Check out the English trailed above and the Japanese trailer below, and let us know what you make of these new Pokémon. All we know is that November 18 can’t come soon enough.
