Finally, There’s a $20,000 Pikachu Watch!

Our long national nightmare is over. For too long, our wrists have gone unadorned by exorbitantly priced luxury watches emblazoned with the smiling face of the most famous electric mouse in the world. That’s right, Swiss luxury watchmaker Romain Jerome recently unveiled a limited edition Pokémon watch that retails for the price of $20,000. Now I’m no Pokéconomist, but I’m fairly certain that’s equivalent to the pre-voucher price of a bicycle at Miracle Cycle–which is to say expensive as hell.

Dubbed the “RJ x Pokémon,” this watch is said to be among the very best, like no watch ever was, and as such it is being limited to a production run of 20 pieces. The collaboration between Romain Jerome and The Pokémon Company celebrates the venerable animal fighting video game series’ twentieth anniversary and pays tribute to its squealing yellow mascot. The watch features a Pikachu applique, hand-painted in yellow cold enamel; a yellow vulcanized rubber strap; a black background engraved with Pikachu’s electric-type pattern; and is housed in Romain Jerome’s signature Moon Invader model. The watch will look simply stunning hanging off your wrist as you drive around, dangling your arm out the window and trying to harvest your body weight in Zubats in your Pokémon GO-themed BMW i8.

If this watch seems too gauche for you, but you still want people to know that money is no object, then perhaps I could interest you in a 24-karat gold Pikachu card. After all, what’s $2,100 to a discerning, obscenely wealthy person like yourself?

What do you think of this watch? What other excessively pricy Pokémon goods would you like to see? Let us know in the comments below.

Let’s look at the Pokedex for Sun and Moon!
