Play A Mash-Up of Three Retro Games At Once In PACAPONG!

I… uhh… I don’t know whats going on here. Oh God! Someone help me explain this! What’s happening!?

This amazing mash-up of retro gaming is called Pacapong! The part Pac-Man, part Space Invaders, part Pong game is a product of the mind of part illustrator, part animator, part game designer – Dick Poelen. Created as part of a Pong-developer challenge on Ludem Dare, you can play this and dozens of other iterations of the game, but who would ever want to play any of the others when Pacapong is just so perfectly insane! Come on now, look at this fun nonsense!

Pacapong!

Sure, you’re thinking “Easy, I know those three games! This will be a Breeze!” but even with the simple controls using AWSD and the arrow keys it’s a maddening exercise in multitasking. Focus too long on any one aspect and you’ll find yourself losing points faster than you think. Dodge the Space Invaders, strategically launch Pac-Man for the most points and make sure you’re where he’ll exit and you’ll be fine. Unless Donkey Kong shows up and starts irresponsibly throwing barrels around. Oh yeah, he does that. So you’ve got that to worry about too.

You can download the two-player Pacapong for Windows, Mac or Linux right here for free but make sure to clear your schedule first because it’s absolutely addictive.

What do you think of Pacapong? Is there a more suitable trio of retro games you would like to see together in one game? Our vote is for a Joust/Q-Bert/Tempest mash-up. We don’t know how that’d work. Share your dream mash-ups in the comments below!
