Browse any summery Instagram hashtag long enough and you’ll surely come across hundreds of photos of the scantily clad hanging out in novelty pool floats, ones shaped like rubber ducks, ice cream cones, or anything else you can visually represent in inflatable object form. Now, for those of you who want to enjoy a day in the sun without forgetting about your own mortality, there’s a new option: The inflatable pink coffin pool float (via Geekologie).

Canadian designer Andrew Greenbaum says he and fellow designer Ian Felton came up with the idea a few years ago, and recently had the opportunity to have a sample made. Photos of the float started to take off online, and now they want to make their wild idea more widely available. Greenbaum wrote in an Instagram post:
“Had the idea to start this project almost three years ago, with my guy [Felton]. I found someone who could make me a sample recently and pulled the trigger. Super hilarious project. Truth be told [though, we’re] about $15,000 short from being able to sell this to [y’all]. Let us know if you think a Kickstarter would be a cool idea or if you have a rich daddy who wanna invest.”
The people have apparently spoken, as Greenbaum wrote in another Instagram post that a Kickstarter campaign for the float would be starting soon. Potential customers can sign up on the Pom Pom website to be notified about all coffin float developments.
Do you need one of these floats? What other novelty float shapes would you invest in? Let us know what you think down in the comments!
