Pickstarter: Our Favorite Crowdfunded Projects 7/8

This week’s Pickstarter brings us a documentary about the celebration of the imaginary, an internship on the moon, and a way to bring your iPhone games to the TV with retro controllers.

Pick #1 – Dear Mr. Watterson – A Calvin and Hobbes Documentary

Calvin & Hobbes is one of the most influential comic strips of all time. Hundreds of thousands of people’s lives have been touched by the adventures of Calvin and his imaginary friend Hobbes. While Bill Watterson has preferred to keep his privacy since he retired the strip in 1995, this documentary looks to explore the impact of his work on all of us. The project has already far exceeded its goal, but the fact that a $35 pledge gets you a copy of the final film may have something to do with it. Now if only it came with an imaginary best friend.

Pick #2 – Moon Intern

“What do you want? You want the moon? Just say the word…” George Bailey may not have delivered the moon, but the folks at Cosmosaur intend to do just that with their game Moon Intern. Set on a moon colony of the future, this side-scrolling action RPG looks to hook players with a mix of fun episodic adventures and a compelling storyline. Performing odd jobs and missions to earn enough money to pay rent on the moon sounds like a blast to us. Where did we put our lasso?

Pick #3 – Gamedock for iPhone, iPad and iPod devices

Gaming on the iPhone and iPad has opened up indie games in ways previously thought unimaginable. Bringing iCade games to your television, the Gamedock hopes to take indie gaming even farther. The dock will connect your iDevice to your television and then use Nintendo style USB controllers to play instead of the touch screen. For the retro and indie games available on iCade, it’s a perfect fit.
