This week in Pickstarter, we’re taking a look at the adventures of Wonderland Royal Guardsman Hatter M, 3D printing in a whole new way, and a documentary about the positive influence of the Batman.
Pick #1 – Hatter M: Zen of Wonder
If there is one thing we love around these parts, it’s a good adaptation of Alice in Wonderland or the Wizard of Oz, and the excellent Hatter M series of comics that tie into The Looking Glass Wars book series sets the bar for Wonderland retold. In this series’ reality, the Mad Hatter is Hatter Madigan, a member of the Wonderland Royal Guard on a mission to find and protect the Princess of Wonderland, Alyss, who has become lost in our world. The action and clever reinterpretation of the source material make The Looking Glass Wars stand out, and Hatter M is especially enthralling. For those who are curious about the whole series up to this point, there are even backer levels to get the complete book trilogy for $25, which I highly recommend. Consider it a very merry unbirthday present.
Pick #2 – 3Doodler: 3D Printing Pen
We love our Makerbot 3D printer in our office. Our GM has become quite the addict, as he thinks of new things to build with it or finds a design he loves on Thingiverse. But, even as good as 3D printing is becoming, occasionally there can be some tiny fixes or alterations you want to make to a project, or maybe you want to “draw” your project by hand. That’s where 3Doodler comes in handy. The first 3D printer pen allows the user to fill in errors or add polish to a pre-existing project or start from scratch and see were your 3D sculpting goes. We’ll have more on 3D printing this week, so stay tuned to Nerdist News’ free email newsletters.
Pick #3 – Legends of the Knight
Batman means quite a bit to a lot of people. As more and more people search for the reasoning behind violence and unprovoked shootings in our country, video games and media get pulled into the conversation at a rapid rate. But a documentary is setting out to show the positive results of people’s fandom by focusing on the inspirational aspects of The Batman and his biggest fans. The film will include interviews with professionals and fans alike about the Dark Knight’s contributions to the American Spirit. The interview subjects include Michael Uslan, executive producer of the The Dark Knight Trilogy; Denny O’Neil, a defining writer of Batman comics; and Gotham Chopra, co-author of Seven Spiritual Laws of Superheroes. Batman: not the hero we deserved, but the hero we needed.
@CXRengel I’m glad you mentioned the Inspector Spacetime kickstarter. The Inspector Spacetime panel at Gallifrey One was awesome!
Here is a silly project that I’m thrilled to support. The whole concept is based on power hour. The artist plays 60, 1 min songs. The audience takes a shot ever time the music changes. There are only 4 days left so go check it out!

I backed the 3D pen earlier this week. So f’in cool.
Also backed a custom pinball art arcade show too — http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/tiltwarning/bring-back-the-arcade-the-art-of-play
Here’s another Kickstarter project everyone should know about. Travis Richey went through a lot of trouble to get the “unofficial” Inspector Spacetime web series made, and now he needs help getting started on season 2.
