Should Peter Jackson Join the DCEU or Amazon’s LORD OF THE RINGS Series?

Peter Jackson could be the next director to join the DCEU, unless he decides to be a part of Amazon’s Lord of the Rings series. On today’s Nerdist News Talks Back we discussed which one we’d rather see him work on next, along with Rick and Morty‘s massive renewal, and the first trailer for Shane Black’s The Predator.

Guest host Hector Navarro was joined today by Nerdist News writers Aliza Pearl and Joan Ford, as well as senior news producer Jesse Gill. They got things off to a squanchy start by breaking down Adult Swim’s surprise 70-episode renewal for Rick and Morty. Is this too much of a good thing? How long do we think we’ll have to wait for season four now? And will this be good for the show’s long term storytelling, or would it have been better off having a shorter run?

Today we also got the first teaser trailer for Fox’s semi-reboot The Predator. What did we think? Are we excited to see it, or does it seem a little too serious? Are we fans of the franchise? And what do we think of director Shane Black’s other films?

Finally, Peter Jackson is reportedly mulling an offer to direct an upcoming DCEU film, that is unless he decides to return to the Shire to work on Amazon’s costly upcoming Lord of the Rings series. Those are two very different projects, so which one do we hope he opts for? How much are we looking forward to Amazon’s answer to Game of Thrones? And what DC property or character would be our dream one for Jackson to take on?

Don’t forget to tune into Nerdist News Talks Back every Monday through Thursday when we air live on our YouTube and Alpha channels at 1PM PT, and to help us end the week with Nerdist News What the Fridays at 1PM PT, exclusively at Alpha. Because eventually Peter Jackson will make up his mind, and we’re going to talk all about it with you.
