PENNY DREADFUL Season Two Trailer Is Here, Premiere Date Announced

After slowly teasing us with a still here and a brief teaser there, today Showtime not only premiered a full trailer for season two of John Logan’s genre hit Penny Dreadful, but also announced that the sophomore season will premiere on Sunday, April 26, 2015! The trailer also gives us our first look at our promised season two “big bad” — Madame Calli bathing in a tub of blood. But whose blood could it be?! Fans will remember that we spent very little time with Madame Calli in season one but what we do know about her is that she is very interested in the supernatural world.

The final line of the trailer is delivered by Eva Green’s character Vanessa Ives and makes the statement, “When Lucifer fell, he did not fall alone” as we see what appears to be a noose swinging in the background. One could speculate that this agrees with series creator John Logan’s statements at San Diego Comic Con in the summer of 2014 as he told the crowd that the season would “deeply grapple with theology, because the question of whether or not there is a world beyond is central to season two.”

What is in store for Ethan Chandler, Victor Frankenstein, The Creature, Sir Malcom and Dorian Grey? I have my own theories about what might go down in the expanded second season but you can watch the trailer below and decide for yourself!

Penny Dreadful, starring Josh Hartnett, Timothy Dalton and Eva Green, returns to Showtime on Sunday, April 26, 2015.
