Captain America: Civil War has the sort of line-up that will dazzle you through sheer spectacle. So many familiar characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) are making appearances in the film, but the new faces might make an even bigger impression — like Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman). The Wakandan is making his debut and does so with style and ferocity. His vibranium-tipped claws are very serious business. In addition to the arrival of T’Challa, Civil War marks the second appearance of Vision (Paul Bettany).
Black Panther and Vision are involved in the fight for different reasons. Bettany and Boseman touch on that in my interview with them. Boseman speaks about T’Challa’s motivations, his fighting style, and being the new kid on the block. He said the entire cast was welcoming. “Everybody had that moment when they pulled me aside and talked to me or invited me to their place,” Boseman said.
Things are very personal for Black Panther whereas Vision is still finding his way. He develops a sense of style in the film, and Bettany talks about how it’s part of him finding his humanity. I also tried to get him to drop clues about whether anything develops between Vision and Scarlet Witch. And by the way, Vision’s dapper attire in Civil War reminds me of Paul Bettany’s wardrobe. Anthony Mackie even commented on Bettany’s fanciness during our interview with him.
What are your hopes for the introduction of Black Panther to the MCU? Let me know in the comments.
