PARKS AND RECREATION’s Final Season Will Be a Glimpse of… THE FUTURE!

Did anyone ever think that time travel would come to NBC’s Parks and Recreation? Certainly not this particular Pawneean. But this is a new time for all of us: where once was a teeny, tiny lil show that could — a semi spin-off of The Office — now looms a comedic behemoth, fronted by Star-Lord, the voice of Grumpy Cat, Amy Poehler Supreme Goddess Edition, and that guy who’s in the sequel to Hot Tub Time Machine. Things have changed, as have the people we’ve come to know and love and Pawnee’s most estimable bureaucrats. And so of course we’re traveling to the future — how else to go out with a truly comedic bang, amiright?

We’re heading to 2017, folks — and oh, what a world it will most likely be: filled with drone delivery systems, crazy technologically advanced smart-i-pad-touch-screen thingies, and Terry (R.I.P. Gary/Jerry/Larry) Gergich being attacked by ninjas. Also apparently Andy is a TV star now! (Though we tend to believe he is more of the public access variety but, hey! You never know. Maybe there’s a local Pawnee PBS or something.)

With this season being the one last hurrah we’re set to have in Pawnee, it feels safe to assume that we should all get ready for a lot of amazing wish fulfillment. And just general hilarious absurdity filled with love because that’s what makes Parks and Recreation so goddamn amazing, isn’t it? It’s so couched in love and hopeful enthusiasm against all odds.

Sniff sniff. We’re barely ready for you, January 13th.

How excited are you for the final season of Parks? Let us know in the comments.

How is Parks and Rec a “Semi-Spin-Off”? It’s just a show that followed a barely similar format. So what is Big Bang a spinoff of Two and a Half Men then?
