PARKS AND RECREATION Renewed For 7th Season

NBC has made quite the run with mockumentary style sitcoms over the last several years. First, The Office, adapted from the UK of course, went for 9 seasons “going behind” the world of selling paper and paper supplies. Now, Parks and Recreation, with its renewal just announced last night, virtually cements a legacy at the Peacock of absurd office minutiae, talking heads, and more, as perfected by Greg Daniels and Michael Schur (Daniels was the showrunner for The Office and both are Parks and Recreation series creators).

That means Parks and Recreation is only two seasons away from running as long as the U.S. version of The Office, and we certainly get another year of Leslie Knope dancing .gifs.

In fact, if Schur’s Fox sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine was at NBC, the network could program a whole “mock comedy block” of some of TV’s best comedies, especially after Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Golden Globes win this year. As it stands, at least we now know that Parks and Recreation will be back for more next Fall.
