Here’s something they aren’t showing at CES, at least to the best of my knowledge (I’ll be looking for it): a Power Loader exoskeleton robot a lot like the one in Aliens, one that you’d use to give you superhuman strength in your arms and legs. They were working on a large version, then, after the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant disaster, they started pushing development of a lighter and smaller version for use in the reconstruction process.
You want this. You want to be able to wear enormous arms that lift anything in your path. You want to be able to grab and lift over your head a car or train or something. Okay, that’s a little far off, and the current projects are looking at more like lifting 100 to 200 pounds with little effort, but if Panasonic division Activelink’s experiments are any indication, lifting massive weight like in the movies or comics is not as far off as it used to be.
