The Hacksmith has previously made some impressive Overwatch builds, including Tracer’s Pulse pistol and Reinhardt’s Rocket Hammer. But now, the Hacksmith has taken on the iconic gauntlet of Doomfist, one of the game’s fan-favorite villains. And it wasn’t enough to simply recreate the aesthetic of the Doomfistâthis build actually packs a 2,600-pound punch!
Via Laughing Squid, the Doomfist build was chronicled in the latest episode of Make It Real. It required a few parts and designs from previous builds. This includes the 3D design of a Hulk fist, which was repurposed for this build and laser-cut into steel pieces that were then welded back together. From there, it was a matter of shaping the gauntlet and decorating it with the necessary components. To give the Doomfist its powerful punch, six pneumatic cylinders were incorporated into the design. However, it still took a backpack rig from the Hacksmith’s Call of Duty exoskeleton to provide the cylinders with enough air to activate them.
After the gauntlet was finished, the team behind this series took a few turns trying on the Doomfist for themselves. It’s not as easy as it looks, since the fist itself weighs 33 pounds and the fully assembled gauntlet is 44 pounds. Of course, the biggest joy of creating a Doomfist that can actually punch comes from testing it out. It smashed through several objects with ease, although a large plasma TV proved to be harder to destroy than anyone expected.
