Over 9 Million Players Participated in the STAR WARS: BATTLEFRONT Beta

Star Wars: Battlefront‘s beta test has come to a close and it proved to be a bit divisive to those who took to the battlefield these last couple of days. Comments about the upcoming Star Wars game dominated the weekend, and there’s a reason for that. According to EA, Battlefront hosted more than 9 million players over the course of the beta. The Force was undoubtedly strong this weekend.

That’s a remarkable amount of players for any title. Clearly it helps that it’s a Star Wars game, but still, a beta garnering this much attention is bonkers. It also must have helped that it was open to everyone. What does this all mean? Well, not much really. Everyone has predicted that a new Battlefront game would be highly successful, and this only proves as much. Though, if social media is anything to go by, there are plenty of people that will be avoiding this AAA title like the plague.

At least we know that the servers will hold up when the game finally releases on November 17 (knock on wood). It’d be interesting to take a look at the number of players on each platform. As we already know, Sony and EA struck a marketing deal for this game, and I’d like to see if things are panning out in favor of the Japanese company. A lot of the PS4’s success this holiday season is riding on this game.

Did you enjoy the game this weekend? What was your favorite mode? What didn’t you like about it? Let us know in the comments below. —
