OUTLANDER Renewed for Two More Seasons

Raise a glass or two of scotch, sassenachs, because Starz is granting Outlander more episodes. Network chief executive officer Chris Albrecht announced Starz has ordered “Book Three” and “Book Four” for the series–that means they’ve renewed it for seasons three and four. It’s fitting news to release right now because today, June 1, is Outlander Day. Diana Gabaldon published the first book in the series that inspires the Starz adaptation on June 1, 1991. This is an excuse to raise at least one more glass of scotch.

The next seasons will continue to follow the pace set in the eight book series by Gabaldon. Season/book three will be based on the third book, Voyager, and season/book four will be based on the fourth book, Drums of Autumn. I don’t want to give away spoilers for those who haven’t read the books (I’ve only made it through Voyager, myself), but be prepared for more bouncing around between time periods and spending scenes with new cast members. Oh, and there’s plenty of new ground to cover with Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan), too. This lassie canna wait.

Starz canna wait either. Albrecht said, “We are thrilled and honored to be able to continue the story that began with author Diana Gabaldon, and is brought to life by the incredibly talented Ronald D. Moore. There are no better storytellers for Outlander than this team, both in front and behind the camera.”

What are you most looking forward to seeing in the upcoming seasons of Outlander? Talk to me in the comments.
