Listen, if you’re a member of the Clone Club, it’s likely that you’re hurting a bit today. Because, confounding thing to end all confounding things, Tatiana Maslany was snubbed for the second year in a row by the Television Academy for her stupid-good work on Orphan Black. Somehow being one of the best actresses on television, in addition to playing ALL OF THE PARTS, is not good enough for Emmy voters. What more do they want? What more do they need? I MEAN VERDAMNIT ALL TO HELL you guys. Seriously.
But we can’t stay mad for long — even if the pain of the best actress currently on television not getting her due is all too real — because there are plenty of things to find joy in. Like this special effects reel from the truly brilliant folks over at Intelligent Creatures. If you were unaware, these are the folks who make the magic happen: as in, they make it possible for us to see all those myriad Maslanys taking over week after week. It’s truly phenomenal stuff — especially when broken down to the tune of “Strict Machine” by Goldfrapp — particularly when broken down to show just how nuanced and subtle their work often is to ensure that our clone sestras look ever-natural when on screen.
It’s hard to pick a favorite part, isn’t it? I mean, sure, the clone club dance party is a particular highlight but even the work that went into that Rachel/Paul creepo-sex scene was impressive, wasn’t it?

Sometimes I’m so amazed by the clone visual effects that I forget to take note of all the other incredible effects used on the show. Amazing!
