Oo-Wee-Oo: DOCTOR WHO is Going on a Worldwide Tour with Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman

It’s not every day this particular author gets to write about one of her favorites, Doctor Who, so allow us to revel in it a bit: Allons-y! Geronimo! Fantastic! OK, OK, we’re good we promise. It’s just that we’re so darn excited about the newly announced, first of its kind worldwide tour wherein Twelve himself, Peter Capaldi and companion Jenna Coleman will usher in the eighth season of the BBC series and introduce our brand new Doctor.

“It’s fantastic that so many people across the world love Doctor Who,” explained Capaldi. “After 8 months solid filming deep in the world of monsters, Jenna and I are thrilled to be heading for the Planet of Fans.”

The trip will find Capaldi, Coleman, and Lead Writer/Executive Producer Steven Moffat visiting seven cities across five continents in 12 days (because TWELVE!) in order to publicize the global series to its perma-expanding international audience. The tour is set to launch in the UK on August 7 and finishes in Brazil on August 19. The itinerary includes stops in Cardiff, Wales, London (UK), Seoul (South Korea), Sydney (Australia), New York (US), Mexico City (Mexico), and Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). Details are scarce at the moment but we’ll no doubt report on them as they become available. (We wouldn’t want you to blink and miss it.)

“I’ve always thought we’d all be a lot safer if the Doctor conquered the world, instead of the Daleks. Now with Jenna and Peter leading the charge, it looks like it’s going to happen. I’ll be bringing up the rear to handle the exposition scenes, and maybe carry some bags,” quipped Moffat.

It’s a big time in the history of the iconic series, whose latest regeneration comes hot off the heels of last year’s 50th Anniversary celebrations and the departure of the incredibly well-loved Matt Smith. To that end Richard De Croce, SVP, Programming for BBC America stated: “It’s a new beginning for one of the most popular series in the world and we couldn’t be more excited to have the Twelfth Doctor live in New York to promote the long awaited return of Doctor Who on BBC America. It’s going to be epic.”

So — who else is beyond-excited for the return of the Doctor? Let’s hear it in the comments.
