Zac Gorman’s star has been rapidly rising with both comic fans and gamers, thanks to his blog Magical Game Time. Now Oni Press is set to publish Gorman’s first ever graphic novel, Costume Quest: Invasion of the Candy Snatchers.
Timed for release alongside Double Fine’s second Costume Quest game (the sequel to their 2010 hit) this Halloween (the holiday it celebrates), Candy Snatchers aims to expand the games’ universe as well as offer a showcase for Gorman’s charming, idiosyncratic illustrations.
From the Oni press release:
Invasion of the Candy Snatchers tells the story of Klem, a misunderstood misfit member of the menacing Grubbins from the first game. While his fellow Grubbins live to snatch trick-or-treaters from our world, Klem is an adorable outcast who only cares about one thing: CANDY! Will Klem be able to make his way amongst the Grubbins while staying true to his sugar-loving soul? Thereâs only one way to find out!
Rather than being a blatant grab for more of fansâ hard-earned dough, Invasion is a lush, deluxe, oversized hardcover that tells a story from the Costume Questworld that isnât seen in the games, expanding the overall experience through Zacâs incredible comics. As anyone whoâs read Magical Game Time and played any of Double Fineâs collection of amazing games can attest, this is a real chocolate and peanut butter situation, folks.
Thatâs science, too. Look it up.
this sounds fun and the costumes are great
Sounds like a good bedtime story for Halloween. Looking forward to seeing this develop
