ONE-PUNCH MAN Will Knock out a Second Season, and a Game App

Looks like being able to knock out all manner of super-foes with one punch isn’t a bore after all. I mean, maybe it still is if you have that power, but to those of us watching, it has generated enough interest to give rise to a second season of the popular animated series. At a special One-Punch Man Fall Festival yesterday, the cast and crew, per Anime News Network, made the big announcement.

One-Punch Man follows the adventures of Saitama, a superhero so powerful that he can win most of his battles with a single punch. While so many writers over the years have claimed that Superman and characters like him are boring to create stories for because they’re too powerful, One-Punch Man milks humor from Saitama’s boredom at the relative lack of challenges his foes pose, and his confrontations with bizarre adversaries like Vaccine Man and Mosquito Girl.

It’s not clear yet what the game will be, only that it’s coming, and will presumably be slightly more challenging than simply hitting one button to win–though you never know. One-Punch Man currently airs on Toonami, and with luck we can expect a date for the U.S. version of the new anime season to be announced soon. Because if not, our walls are gonna get one punch…and then maybe another one punch…and possibly one or more after that. We’re punchy.
