Warner Bros. UK has announced the release date of the live-action Black Butler film across the pond. Fans of Yana Toboso’s dark fantasy manga can expect the live-action adaption in the UK region on October 17. Along with the announcement, Warner Bros. UK released a brand new trailer, which you catch right here, right now:
The movie actually isn’t a direct adaptation, and is set 130 years after the manga, in a fictional Asian locale that blends Western and Eastern cultures. With the minor changes being made, I’m hoping that Sebastian is as charmingly demonic as depicted in the manga/anime, though I’m more interested to see if the imagery will resemble the Victorian London setting from the book. From the looks of the trailer, the more modern-feeling atmosphere seems like an interesting (if off-brand) choice, but I’ll reserve total judgement, especially considering how awesome the fight choreography looks thus far.
Are there any fans of Black Butler out there? If so, how does the live-action film look to you. Let us see your thoughts in the comments below and on Twitter!

Sadly, I still haven’t seen it. I live in the U.S. so I have no idea where to see it. I’m not so sure about the movie and, I agree, the choreography for the fight scenes are very alluring. I’m kinda disappointed with the details, including Ciel’s hair color. But seeing as I haven’t watched it, I really wouldn’t know.
cant wait for the movie since it has KR Kabutos actor but i dont know what cinema it will be at?
i cant wait to see this it has kabuto’s actor as sebastian and i love the anime i cant wait! but i dont know what cinema it will be streamed at?
I’m Excited. 😀
This is going to be good since we have Kamen Rider Kabuto as the Black Butler
Interesting. I’m gonna withhold judgement till I get a chance to see it. *fingers crossed* Hope it’s good,
Wish he would have said “I am simply one hell of a butler” instead of “I am just a devilish butler”, would have squealed more.
YES!!!
Saw this in Dallas over the summer, it’s really good.
Saw it in Tokyo earlier this year. Loads of fun!
We saw it at Fantasia here in Montreal. The setting is different, yes, but the relationships are true to the original. And of course, fan service is in ready supply, though thankfully, they didn’t overdo it 🙂 Thoroughly enjoyed it!
