Oculus Rift Unveils E3 Lineup, Nabs Naughty Dog Founder Jason Rubin

First John Carmack, now Jason Rubin — Oculus Rift is well on its way to becoming one of the most stacked, dynamic gaming companies out there. In a post on the company’s official blog, Oculus revealed that that Naughty Dog founder Jason Rubin has come aboard as the head of worldwide studios. The man who brought us games like Crash Bandicoot and Jak & Daxter will be spearheading “first-party content initiatives in Seattle, San Francisco, Menlo Park, Dallas and Irvine.” Most recently, Rubin joined the sinking ship that was THQ in 2012 in an effort to salvage the company and its considerable game holdings. While ultimately unsuccessful in that endeavor, Rubin is still an exciting addition to the growing Oculus team.

“There have only been a handful of times in my life where I saw something that I knew would change everything,” said Rubin in the post. “The awe-inspiring tech Oculus is building is a portal into an incredible world that my daughter will one day consider to be normal. The moment I put it on, I wanted to help define that future.”

Speakng of “that future,” Oculus also revealed exactly what they’ll be bringing to E3 this year. Using the latest development kits, the DK2, Oculus will have playable versions of space dogfighting sim EVE: Valkyrie, time-bending shooter Superhot, adventure platformer Lucky’s Tale, and survival horror game Aliens: Isolation available at their booth (West Hall #5222). Having played EVE: Valkyrie at EVE Fanfest, which made a VR believer out of me, I highly recommend you make it your mission to play this game if you happen to be at E3. If not, well, patience is a virtue and, my, aren’t you looking virtuous today?
