Oasis’ Noel Gallagher Moved Furniture Around to Trick Brother Liam into Believing in Ghosts

Anybody who knows anything about Oasis aside from the fact that they’re the band who wrote “Wonderwall”—a song that, somewhere this very moment, a college freshman is performing on his acoustic guitar—knows that a big part of the reason the band isn’t active today is because founding members and brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher really can’t stand each other.

At least every couple months, if you check any British music publication, you’re bound to find news reporting that one of the brothers said something unflattering about the other. For instance, we just checked NME and discovered that just in October, Liam compared Noel to one of history’s most infamous dictators, saying, “He is pretty dark, but then so was Hitler.”

That’s anecdotal evidence to really hammer home the point that these two really do not care for each other, so much so that not long after that story emerged, it was also revealed that Noel pulled a real long con on his brother in order to make him believe in ghosts. Noel explained it pretty well himself, so we’ll let him:

“If we were ever anywhere remotely spooky, we’d tell Liam that the house was haunted, particularly his bedroom. When he’d get up in the morning and go and have his breakfast, someone would go in and turn the pictures back to front, or fucking move a lamp beside his bed across the other side of the room. He’d arrive pale: ‘Have you been in my fucking room?’ ‘No, why?’ ‘You’ve been in my room, because now the fucking lamp is in the toilet.’ ‘No way, fucking hell. Wow.'”

That’s either deep-seated brotherly love, or just the very apparent fraternal contempt we’ve come to expect from the Gallagher boys. We’re going with the latter.
