NTSF:SD:SUV on Hold; Paul Scheer on to New HBO & Adult Swim Projects

Though you may not be aware, Paul Scheer has so many irons in the fire that he will now have to pace himself. While he stars and helms his own series NTSF:SD:SUV on Adult Swim, Scheer is also on The League, in various parodies of reality shows like the upcoming Hotwives of Orlando, is the go-to crazed agent for Funny or Die, and has recently gotten into writing comic books. On top of that, he still performs live, either doing stand-up, characters like a guy promoting the USA Network series Suits, or doing whatever he feels like doing on his and Rob Huebel’s anything-goes show Crash Test.

As juggling all of that is even hard to imagine, much less do, Scheer revealed in an interview with Yahoo! TV that he’s going to hold off on doing more NTSF:SD:SUV for the time being. Not to be one forcing out new episodes for the sake of new episodes, Scheer explained, “When I was sitting down to write a new season, I was like, ‘I don’t know if I’ve got anything right now. Let me explore something else, and if I get inspired later on…’ And that’s the cool thing about Adult Swim — they’re like, ‘Yeah, if you have an idea later, come back and do it.’

While you may be distraught that San Diego’s most badass badass Trent Hauser is on leave, Scheer is somehow adding to his plate two new exciting projects at Adult Swim and HBO. The Adult Swim project involves doing a sort of “Where Are They Now?” animated series following G.I. Joe’s enemy Cobra. Scheer says, “They’re bankrupt and trying to make a go in this new world where villains aren’t necessarily needed.”

Paul was even more hush-hush on his HBO project. So far, he’s really only revealed the buzz phrase “True Detective-esque” in lieu of outlining the premise. Whatever that ends up being, Scheer waxing poetic about existence while looking off to the distance sounds like something we’d all be into.

Also, Scheer mentioned that a comedy special that he and Rob Huebel did on a bus for Crash Test will also be coming soon. So, you should get excited for all of this despite a potential NTSF:SD:SUV withdrawal.

What do you think Scheer has up his sleeve at HBO? Let us know in the comments below.
