Not Even Chimps Want to be Filmed by Drones

Animals apparently have our sensibilities when it comes to being filmed by a drone. Hawks dive-bomb them, rams smash their skulls against them, and dogs…just run away.

Now, chimpanzees have joined the anti-drone party. In a video released late last week by The Royal Burgers’ Zoo in the Netherlands, we see a chimp performing a live-action Rise of the Planet of the Apes by taking out a drone meant to film a video of the chimps’ enclosure.

Once the drone was downed, others rushed to examine the mechanical mystery.

This GoPro footage may not be as epic as a GoPro video of a spacewalk, but for some reason seeing a fellow ape smack a robot out of the air makes us want to roll around in a tire swing.
