Since time immemorial, man has operated under the assumption that 2D and 3D were meant to exist in separate dimensions. Now, Nintendo is changing everything with their new crossover RPG, Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, which blends traditional Super Mario Bros. gameplay with the Paper Mario series. The delightfully self-aware title was announced earlier today during Nintendo’s E3 Direct event.
Developed by Intelligent Systems, the game is set for a 2016 release, presumably in the spring. With a familiar cast of characters, a wicked sense of humor, and paper-themed power-ups, it looks like a welcome addition to the Mario canon. Considering that this is Mario’s 30th anniversary, you can expect Nintendo and Intelligent Systems to do this one up big.
