When Nintendo and Koei Tecmo revealed that the Fatal Frame franchise would be making a comeback on the Wii U, we were pretty excited. Though the spooky series has been around since 2001, we hadn’t seen a new entryâaside from the Nintendo 3DS spinoff Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir (2012)âsince 2008’s Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse. With the game set to haunt Nintendo’s home console eShop on October 22 (North America), October 30 (Europe), and October 31 (Australia), the folks behind the game decided to release a brand new trailer for Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water.
In the trailerâwhich you can check out aboveâwe get to see more of the game’s main character Yuuri Kozukata, a girl who’s not only able to see things that others can’t, but is also able to bring people back from the “shadow world.” On top of that, the way the gamepad is going to work in tandem with the title was shown off. It looks absolutely terrifying.
Much like it’s predecessors, the third-person survival horror game allows fans to control three different characters whose only defense against the hoards of hostile ghosts is the Camera Obscura. As shown in the video, the first-person camera is controlled using the Wii U gamepad. The amount of damage dealt depends on how close one is to the enemy, as well as which angle is used. If you manage to hit the ghost just right, you’ll pull off a critical Fatal Frame.
What did you think of the trailer? Are you planning on picking it up? Let us know in the comments below.
