Fans of the Netflix original series Voltron: Legendary Defender won’t have to wait long for the resolution of the first season’s cliffhanger. The second season is premiering later this month, and the newest trailer has revealed a whole galaxy of trouble for the Voltron team, including a few threats that may come uncomfortably close to their home world of Earth.
Last season, the Paladins of Voltron discovered that Zarkon was the original Black Paladin, and Voltron could still become a deadly weapon in his hands. While the lions were scattered through space thanks to an unstable wormhole, the new trailer reveals that the team is back together and on the run from Zarkon’s forces. According to Zarkon, there’s nowhere in the universe that’s safe from his reach, and it appears that he’ll do anything to get Voltron back under his control.
Of course, the show’s signature sense of humor is well represented with a brief scene of Hunk in the castle. But other than that, things are looking pretty dark for the team as they seem to be outmatched by the powers set against them.
The new trailer also hints at new worlds and new allies, and we even catch a glimpse of one of the new characters fighting side by side with Keith. However, their identity remains a secret for now.
All episodes of Voltron: Legendary Defender season 2 will premiere on January 20, on Netflix.
