Things are pretty grim right now on The Walking Dead, even for a show that tortures its audience. Jeffrey Dean Morgan‘s Negan has forced Rick Grimes and his group to surrender to the authority of the Saviors, and now Rick has to break the news to the other survivors at Alexandria. Everything they own now belongs to Negan.

Earlier this week, AMC released the first advance look at next Sunday’s episode of The Walking Dead, as Negan and his army pulled up in front of Alexandria’s gates, much to the surprise of Eugene and Rosita. Now, Entertainment Weekly has posted a second preview scene, which takes place moments later, when Rick arrives to personally greet Negan. Although Rick is clearly not pleased, Negan seems almost happy to see him again before demonstrating his skill with a bat on a nearby walker. If you watch the entire video, you’ll see that Negan brought something for Rick as well.

That’s right, Daryl is out of his cell for a little field trip back home. This is probably Negan’s way of offering proof of life, and it may explain why Daryl wasn’t killed after he refused Negan’s offer in the previous episode. Holding Daryl hostage is one of the ways that Negan can keep Rick’s crew in check. But we’d be shocked if Daryl doesn’t try to escape again at some point in the future.

The Walking Dead season 7 will continue this Sunday, November 13.
