New THE FLASH Season 2 Trailer Hints at Villains from Other Worlds

In the first season finale of The Flash, Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) inadvertently created a black hole that threatened not only his city, but the entire world! As The Flash, Barry bravely ran into the Black Hole itself, and we can assume that he was successful because The Flash and Arrow both got renewed. But at what cost?

The new trailer for The Flash Season 2 appears to indicate that Barry’s actions were not without consequences. Villains from alternate worlds are showing up in Central City on a mission to kill The Flash at the behest of Zoom, an enemy even more fearsome than the Reverse-Flash.

But who is Zoom? Tony Todd (Candyman) will provide the voice of the character, but his identity under the mask will remain a mystery for most of the season. Even the new trailer doesn’t show Zoom—but his presence is felt.

This trailer also gives introductions to two new characters in Barry’s life: Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears) and Patty Spivot (Shantel VanSanten). In DC’s comic book universe, Jay Garrick was the very first Flash. And on this show, Jay will become Barry’s new mentor as they attempt to find a way to defeat Zoom and his forces.

Patty Spivot is the new partner of Detective Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) and potentially a new love interest for Barry Allen. She also has the unenviable role of the only major cast member still in the dark about Barry’s secret. So, she’s the new Iris! And Iris (Candice Patton) is the new Dr. Wells, since she’s bringing Team Flash back together for season 2.

The Flash Season 2 will premiere on Tuesday, October 6 on The CW.
