New Teaser for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Animated Series is Hooked on a Feeling

While all comic book properties could and would probably make a for good animated series, there’s something about the Guardians of the Galaxy that seems to fit extra-perfectly. The setting of outer space, the endless array of alien worlds to explore, and the colorful characters just scream “cartoon”—even the general comedic tone of James Gunn‘s feature film version felt like we were watching something less “realistic” than the way the Marvel movies had been previously presented. But, if Disney XD’s new animated series was going to be a direct spinoff of the popular movie, it needed one huge piece: Awesome Mix Vol 1!

We’ve already seen a bit of the backstory of Star-Lord, aka Peter Quill, but with this new teaser we’re getting a lot more of the team, and the epic space awesomeness that everybody loves, all scored to that familiar Ooga-Chaka-ing of Blue Swede’s “Hooked on a Feeling.” I mean, it wouldn’t be Guardians without it, right?

Highlights from the 30-second, rapid-edited teaser include Rocket wearing a jet pack, Gamora messing up a huge ship with just her sword, Drax fighting in an arena of some sort, and—most excitedly—what appears to be a planet of Groots! I mean, that’s so many Groots, you guys! We also get to see a little bit more of how the show’s going to look, with the characters and key pieces of scenery done in 2D, traditional animation, and ships and bigger objects being 3D animation. Looks pretty great to me.

Guardians of the Galaxy will premiere this September on Disney XD. Are you stoked to watch it like we are?! Let us know in the comments below and give us your predictions/hopes for the first season.
