I never realized I could care about a jacket so much, but it turns out it can be the most important thing in the galaxy when I stare at enough pictures of it.
At least thatâs what I learned looking at Entertainment Weekly’s exclusive photos from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which were released on Wednesday. The magazine is releasing a special double issue all about the upcoming Star Wars movie, and while they say the photos do not contain spoilers, we can still analyze them pixel by pixel and try to learn even more about the movie.
Make sure you check out all of the pictures they have, but these are a few of the ones that piqued our interest the most.
Okay, so Finn and Poe Dameron meet before Finn defects from the First Order, and seemingly after Poe has been tortured. Is Finn the one who frees Poe? We know he somehow escapes the clutches of Kylo Ren. Plus, there’s the little matter of Poe’s jacket, the one that Finn ends up wearing the rest of the movie. Somehow this jacket means everything…I think.
I can’t even explain why I find this jacket so fascinating, but somehow it feels like the most important thing in the world. Shame on you if you didn’t even notice BB-8 hanging out down there! That adorable little droid is always listening…and maybe learning. I’ve grown suspicious of everyone and everything already! Or, you know, maybe Finn was chilly and needed some clothes, and Poe’s just a real cool dude.
Maybe Kylo Ren is just after the jacket. It’s a pretty nice jacket. Seems to be in a similar style to Han’s.
Okay, less jacket talk, more character analysis. Rey certainly looks to have a nice little collection of junk with her. How long has she been scavenging on Jakku anyway?
Admit it, this image does nothing but support my theory that this whole movie is really about Kylo Ren trying to get that jacket.
After three decades of jokes about how bad Stormtroopers are at aiming, this image makes me think we are finally going to see some competent marksmen. Also, it’s just kind of badass and awesome. Look at that stabilizing monopod!
So what do you make of these photos? Do you think my jacket theory is A) correct or B) absolutely correct? Tell us all of your reactions in the comments below.
