Does reading the words Samurai Jack automatically make the theme song jump into your head? I just want to know I’m not alone. “Gotta get back to the past…” Anyway! Today’s TV-Cap has a full trailer for season five of the animated series (it’s finally happening), some thoughts about the Stranger Things season two teaser, the premiere date for the next installment of Attack on Titan, and more.
50 Years Later. It’s been 12 years since season four of Genndy Tartakovsky’s Samurai Jack aired and 50 years have passed in the universe. Jack hasn’t aged, but the world around him has. He can’t get home, he seems a little unhinged, he’s on the run from a group of seriously dangerous warriors, and things look intense. The limited series is set to drop on March 11 on Adult Swim. CIA Intel. AT&T Audience Network has a 10-episode straight-to-series drama on deck inspired by the 1975 film Three Days of the Condor. Their TV version is shorter, titled Condor. It centers on a young CIA analyst who runs into a terrorist plan, Joe Turner. They’ve cast Max Irons (White Queen) in the role. Get more information at Deadline.
Not an April Fools’ Joke. The Titans are coming back hungrier than ever in season two of Attack on Titan, and Funimation has announced the new episodes will arrive on April 1. The simulcast start date news also came with some shiny key art, above. The synopsis for the second season: “Eren Jaeger swore to wipe out every last Titan, but in a battle for his life he wound up becoming the thing he hates most. With his new powers, he fights for humanityâs freedom facing the monsters that threaten his home. After a bittersweet victory against the Female Titan, Eren finds no time to restâa horde of Titans is approaching Wall Rose and the battle for humanity continues!” I actually don’t feel confident about the humans winning, which is an aspect I really like about this series. Pick a Favorite. Legion is coming to FX on February 8 (hey, that’s tomorrow). The Marvel drama features X-Man David Haller in the lead, played by Dan Stevens. Our very own Victoria McNally talked to Stevens about the little things in the series, the X-Men character he wants to see in the show, and more. Read the interview here at Nerdist.
A Partnership. Fandango’s streaming service, FandangoNOW, announced a new partnership on Monday. They’re working with HBO and making the network’s content available for purchase via digital download. The list of series includes Game of Thrones, Girls, and more, with additional programs coming in the near future. You can learn more at FandangoNOW.com.
What Does It Mean? Netflix dropped a Stranger Things season two teaser during the Super Bowl, which is v. fancy, by the way, and the footage leveraged the mystery factor. Imagery showed a monster, the kids in Ghostbusters outfits, Eleven, Will, and more. Oh my. Jessica Chobot goes over it all in the latest Nerdist News, embedded above. [Nerdist]
