Apparently America is robo-phobic. Or, that’s the conceit that Samuel L. Jackson’s character is using to expand the reach of robotic law enforcement in the newest trailer for Sony’s RoboCop reboot. This batch of clips focuses on the creation of the cop and all the people doing the brainy talking about it, like Michael Keaton, Gary Oldman, Jay Baruchel, Jackie Earl Haley, and Jennifer Ehle.
Evidently, in the USA, putting a pure machine on the streets is met with distrust, and that’s why they need one with a conscience and a little bit of humanity. But, really that’s just a reason to put Daniel Kinnaman inside the sleep new RoboCop suit. As if they needed one!
RoboCop will be in U.S. cinemas on February 14th, 2014. February isn’t generally the best month for movies, but maybe Sony’s betting this traditional dearth will help their returns before the spring blockbuster onslaught. What do you think? Think this looks good, or are you still just upset they remade Paul Verhoeven’s original in the first place? Let us know in the comments. Your move.
No, this movie misses what was important about the original movie. I agree with the Screen Junkies review that says that this could have been a good film if they had not tried to make it RoboCop.
How come Colin Farrell didn’t get the part? I thought all 80’s remakes had to star him.
It doesn’t look bad at all – at least there are a few new twists.
But Robocop looks so good in blue. They even show him in blue in the trailer. In black, he looks like ear-less Batman.
