New Reality Show BROMANS Sends Bros Back to Ancient Rome, Suggests Downfall of Mankind

Historians will forever debate what led to the fall of the Roman Empire. Was its demise mostly due to political incompetence? Economic factors? Hun invasions? The weakening of its military? Whatever brought down the mightiest force in the world, it was then a thousand years longer before Europe climbed out of the darkness the Roman Empire’s fall cast on it.

But historians will have no trouble pinpointing what led to the fall of Western Civilization this time around, because it’s definitely going to be the new British reality show Bromans, where “handsome boys”–bros, if you will–live like ancient Romans. To clarify, “eight 21st century lads” along “with help from their loving girlfriends” will be “transported back to the Roman Empire to see if they can cut it as gladiators.”

Bromans.

We learned via Jezebel of the beginning of this second Dark Age, which comes from the nihilistic masterminds at ITV2. They aren’t even being subtle about trying to destroy the world as we know it. From their press release:

“The Romans gave us roads, viaducts and basic sanitation but ‘Bromans’ may prove to be their greatest legacy. Over 8 weeks our couples will train, live and carpe diem together, all the while battling to triumph at the Emperor’s Games. It is ancient Rome like you’ve never seen it before.”

They’ll compete in “physical tasks,” and then one of them will win some money. Or something. It doesn’t matter.

Because time will forget the show’s winner, but historians a thousand years from now will remember the name of the show that brought the world into darkness once more. Bromans. Bros living like Romans. Bro-mans.
