Jesse Custer is coming to AMC, and he’s bringing the word of God with him. After months of waiting, AMC has finally set a premiere date for the heavily anticipated adaptation of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillonâs classic Vertigo comic book series, Preacher.
According to a press releaseâwhich also revealed a new posterâthe series premiere of Preacher will drop on Sunday, May 22 at 10pm, immediately following the midseason finale of Fear The Walking Dead. But fans are gonna have to wait until Sunday, June 5 for the second episode of Preacher, which will move into Fear The Walking Deadâs 9pm timeslot after that series has its finale. To fill the gap on Memorial Day weekend, the pilot episode of Preacher will run twice on Sunday, May 29.
In the series, Dominic Cooper stars as Jesse Custer, a small town preacher who is merged with an otherworldly creature that grants him the power to command almost anyone in creation. And with the forces of Heaven and Hell gunning for him, Jesse will eventually go on a roadtrip to literally find God alongside his ex-girlfriend Tulip (Ruth Negga), and Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun), an Irish vampire.
Ian Colletti costars in Preacher as Eugene Root a.k.a. Arseface, with Lucy Griffiths as Emily, W. Earl Brown as Sherriff Root, Anatol Yusef as DeBlanc, Tom Brooke as Fiore, and Derek Wilson as Donnie Schenck. Jackie Earle Haley will have a recurring role as Odin Quincannon, one of the earliest adversaries of the Preacher comic. And let’s just say that Odin loves meat a little bit too much!
The first season of Preacher will run for ten episodes.
