New PREACHER Action Figures Will Make You Give Praise

New PREACHER Action Figures Will Make You Give Praise

With all its blasphemy, heavy drinking, and casual killing, AMC‘s Preacher may not be the first property you’d expect to get a toy line. But there is a precedent: DC Direct made figures for the comic back it when it was still coming out. Plus AMC’s The Walking Dead has been a total goldmine for McFarlane Toys, but they weren’t quick enough on the draw this time, as rival NECA decided it would be their time of the Preacher.

The first of what we hope will be many Preacher figure assortments kicks off with just two: the powerful, confused Rev. Jesse Custer and his hedonistic, carefree vampire pal Cassidy. As befits the show, both come with beer bottle accessories; Cassidy also has some of the harder stuff on hand, while Jesse can hold his hymn book and the coffee can with which a certain unsuccessful exorcism was performed.

The likenesses to the actors (and their hairstyles) are authorized and spot-on:

Note the pack of cigarettes in Jesse’s pocket.

Unfortunately, the show has three leads, and this leaves out Tulip—though presumably she’ll be next in line if the first two sell well. NECA’s Randy Falk has also expressed hope, via Twitter, that he’ll be able to get to the Saint of Killers too.

Who would you like to see in a future series? I’m hoping for a convention exclusive “Burning Cassidy,” myself (I’m resigned to the fact that “Exploding Tom Cruise” is highly unlikely). Regular Cassidy and Jesse are set to hit stores in December, just in time to celebrate Christmas. Let us know who you’d like to see added to the line in comments below.
