New ORPHAN BLACK Images and Final Season Synopsis Leave Us Reeling

Everything ends… even if your biology has been cloned and reborn as new life generations beyond your own mortal existence. (Heavy, right?) Such is the case of Orphan Black, BBC America’s breakout sci-fi thriller, set to conclude with its fifth season this summer. Starring EMMY AWARD WINNER (yes, you have to type it like that now) Tatiana Maslany, the series has spent years exciting us with crazy science and hyperactive hijinks. Discovering the real mystery surrounding the sestrahood like no other has kept the Nerdist offices in speculatory overdrive, so it’s hard to imagine a world without Sarah, Alison, Helena, Cosima, Rachel, Felix, Kira, Mrs. S, and all the rest.

But here we are, and it’s the end of the road for all of us.

Felix (Jordan Gavaris), Sarah (Tatiana Maslany), Mrs. S (Maria Doyle Kennedy)

Instead of feeling sad about the series coming to an end, though, let’s ignore that bit and focus on all the good stuff we got today: 10 (!!) new images and a season-long synopsis. And there’s some stuff in here we’re very nervous and curious about.

This season, the walls close in on Sarah when nearly all her sestras and their allies are brought to heel by Rachel. Even more harrowing is that her daughter Kira has joined them. With the threat of Neolution having carte blanche access to clone biology, Sarah is desperate to gain control, but realizes she must change tactics to pursue a long game. Protecting both her families, and the host of clones she’s yet to meet, Sarah and those still fighting the fight will uncover the missing pieces of the insidious conspiracy – and finally learn the story behind their origin. Despite the great risk, the fight of her life will either set her and her sestras free, or see them meet their end…

First of all, we’ve gotta focus on the thing that makes us the dizziest: “The host of clones she’s yet to meet.” Is Maslany going to be giving us EVEN MORE sestras this year? (OH JEEZ.) With a conspiracy as bonkers as what Neolution has been revealed to be, we suppose it makes sense the show would ramp it up to 11 as far as the crazy is concerned.

But don’t just take our word for it. Check out the rest of the images in the gallery below before hitting us up with all your speculatory thoughts (I’m listening!) on where the final season of Orphan Black will go when it hits BBC America on Saturday, June 10th.
