Warning: copious dubstep and Dutch angles ahead.
After the Shredder costume reveal last week, the latest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trailer shows us the hardware-heavy villain in action. And yeah, that is a very, very elaborate costume. We also have confirmation that all of the black-clad bad guys are members of his Foot Clan, whose plan seems to involve terrorizing New York City for some reason, while Megan Fox gets her first lines in the trailers.
With all of the rapid cuts, it’s hard to get a sense of the action (the clearest sections so far are the snowbound sequences), so I’m still wondering what director Jonathan Liebesman has in store for the fight scenes. (Hey, what’s the point of having a movie with the word “ninja” in the title if the fight scenes don’t work?)
“The city needs heroes. Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April OâNeil (Megan Fox) and her wise-cracking cameraman Vern Fenwick (Will Arnett) to save the city and unravel Shredderâs diabolical plan. Based on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Characters Created by PETER LAIRD and KEVIN EASTMAN with a Screenplay by JOSH APPELBAUM & ANDRÃ NEMEC and EVAN DAUGHERTY, Producer MICHAEL BAY (the blockbuster Transformers franchise) and director JONATHAN LIEBESMAN (Wrath of the Titans) bring Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the popular franchise that has captivated audiences of all ages for decades, into the 21st century.”

as a young man in his 20’s i have seen both sides of this coin, and to be honest, aside from changing the origin story (and this version of them it is WAY better that the aliens script, which they make fun of in the actual trailer) this movie may destroy a lot of the original and integral parts of the “heroes in a half shell” that we know and love. However, I can understand why Bay are doing this movie in the way that he did transformers, which is TO INTRODUCE THE CHARACTERS TO THE NEW GENERATION. If you were 10-15 you probably have some kind of an idea as what the turtles are, but this is to renew the icon, think of it as an alternate timeline. P.s I thought the use of “Reptile” for a movie ABOUT FOUR MUTANT REPTILES was a clever choice, high energy, with a popular artist eg; Linkin Park with the Transformers series
Why does Michael Bay hate me?!?!? He continues to ruin my childhood!!!
Your childhood is still there. I will never get why people feel remakes, reboots, or sequels ruin anything. Does this movie magically make the old toys or cartoons disappear? Is Bay gonna go into your house and take away your copy of the original cartoon so you can’t watch it? No. Your childhood is and always will be intact. The versions you love will still be there. This in no way changes anything in the past. I didn’t like the Beast Wars cartoon, but that didn’t ruin the original Transformers cartoons for me. Nope Does the shitty Robocop 3 change what Robocop did for me as a viewer? Nope. Get a grip on reality. If ya don’t like it, don’t watch it, but it doesn’t change what you do like in any way shape or form.
your an idiot. just sayin
In all honesty, I think it’s looking better than I expected. Even the dubstep music, which isn’t my thing, I found fairly inoffensive: the first two movies featured the likes of MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice, hardly paragons of musical integrity.
Of course it has every opportunity to be bad, and as someone who loved the OG cartoon and movies as a kid (missed out on the comics), I can barely muster the effort to care, but at least this trailer revealed a lighter tone than the teaser did.
The biggest failure to remain true to the TMNT brand in my eyes would be if it took itself too seriously.
Otherwise if a bunch of 30 year olds calling themselves “fans” are upset that an adolescent fantasy movie doesn’t cater to their tastes, they can vote with their wallets -including paying for movies worth supporting.
What i love about ninjas are ak47 and muscles that defy physics, ninjas on ‘roids are the future

Another Micheal Bay film. Animated creatures that are not supposed to look like humans, but actually look like humans fighting a horribly incompetent army with Megan Fox as a companion. Along with remixed scrillex, unnecessary explosions while objects are flying through the air, wide angle shots of hallways/corridors, and or course, rooftop scenes.
= best movie. oh and there is a plot somehwere
“creatures that are not supposed to look like humans, but actually look like humans”
Her name is Megan Fox.
OK. So If you were paying attention and the characters weren’t joking around. Here’s what I gleamed from it. Horoku Saki (I probably misspelled that) is in the movie and William Fitcher is not the original Shredder. I think he’s a poser. Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s actually baxter stockman.
Next. The giant Shredder we see is either an Iron man like suit or a robot.
So maybe I might go see this.
you were close, it’s Oroku Saki.
Why did they use skrillex’s reptile mortal kombat dubstep theme? Thats just fucking stupid. And also the movie
This is absolutely horrible. Why are they destroying all these cartoons and movies that we grew up with? The turtles look scarier than the foot!! WTF is up with that?? I don’t understand why these movie people can’t just leave the good stuff alone and stop trying to out do the old stuff. Sorry but you failed miserably!
Because this isn’t made for you. This is made for a new generation of Children. Same with Transformers.
so then the prequel for star wars is the greatest trilogy becuase it not for the older ones but stupid little children 10/10
Terrible, just terrible. Those faces, the character models, the voice actors, all of it. Also, why does The Shredder seem to make that same ‘vwooooom’ sound effect that all the transformers made in those equally awful ‘adaptations’ that Bay did?
Someone needs to tell Bay this isn’t a Transformers movie…
The best part was at 2:35
How many times do you think Michael Bay had to stomp his foot before the effects department caved and gave Shredder ten swords?
Wow, that looked awful. I was a fan of the original comic in the 80s and I could still enjoy the cartoon and cheesy film from the 90s for what they were, but this just looks really bad.
Whoopi Goldberg?!
Starring Megan “Blow up Doll” Fox
