New GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Trailer? Yes, Please!

What better way to start off your Tuesday than with a brand new Guardians of the Galaxy trailer? Marvel evidently agreed with that line of thinking, and posted a brand new international trailer to their Marvel UK YouTube channel, hot on the heels of yesterday’s cavalcade of character posters. Clocking in at a hefty 2 minutes, 17 seconds, the new trailer is light in the “Ooga Chaka” department, but makes up for it with some of our best glimpses yet of Ronan the Accuser, Rocket Raccoon giving Star-Lord endless grief, Glenn Close as Nova Prime, and much more.

Looks like someone needs to give Rocket Raccoon a lecture on proper explosive ordnance handling measures. Somehow, though, I don’t think Star-Lord is that person. Jokes aside, the trailer has a more serious tone than we’ve seen in previous footage. It’s nice to get a showcase of the film’s action set pieces and play up the space opera part of Marvel’s Cosmic Universe. That being said, it’s Guardians of the Galaxy‘s sense of humor that is going to set it apart from the increasingly homogenized market of gritty, dystopian sci-fi stories out there. That and a talking, machine-gun toting raccoon, of course. And a sentient tree. You get the picture.

James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy comes to theaters on August 1, 2014.

Does this trailer have you excited to see Guardians of the Galaxy? What do you think of Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon? Let us know in the comments below.
