New GOTHAM Season 2 Preview Unites Jerome and Barbara in Arkham

Hey, you! There are spoilers ahead for Gotham Season 1, so if you didn’t stay with Fox’s Batman prequel to the very end of the first season, you should probably catch up before finishing this story.

Late in the first season of Gotham, Barbara Kean (Erin Richards) went–shall we say–a little cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs. After Barbara ruined her romantic prospects with both James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Renee Montoya (Victoria Cartagena), she started seeing Jason Lennon a.k.a The Ogre (Milo Ventimiglia), and he pushed her into murdering her own parents. But perhaps Barbara didn’t need much of a push to embrace the madness, as she quickly tried to kill Jim’s new girlfriend, Leslie Thompkins (Morena Baccarin). And even in Gotham City, the cops aren’t gonna look the other way over that. At this rate, Barbara is never going to be Batgirl’s mom!

Gotham Season 2 picks up with Barbara locked away in Arkham Asylum, along with almost every other criminally insane person in the city. That includes Jerome Valeska (Cameron Monaghan), the young man who may eventually become the Joker… if the Gotham creative team is serious.

Fox has released a two minute preview clip from the season premiere of Gotham in which Jerome formally introduces himself to Barbara, and he comes away impressed by how she handles herself. If Jerome is supposed to be a proto-Joker, does this mean that Barbara could be his Harley Quinn?

We’ll find out more when Gotham returns to Fox on Monday, September 21.

Gotham fans, do you want to see more of Barbara as a villain this season? Put a smile on that face, and leave a comment below!
