DreamWorks’ upcoming adaptation of Masamune Shirow’s classic manga series Ghost in the Shell is still over six months way, but the march towards the release date begins now! Last night, DreamWorks dropped five 10-second teasers for the film, which told us absolutely nothing about the story. But they did offer a few chances to see Scarlett Johansson‘s lead character, and she is definitely more than human.
Via Deadline, here are the five teasers in order:

In the film, Johansson’s character is called “the Major,” and she has indeed inherited her cyborg nature from Motoko Kusanagi, her counterpart character from the Ghost in the Shell manga and anime. Note that the Major unplugs herself from the machine in the second clip, while her inhuman qualities seem to unsettle the woman seen in the third clip. The Major is kind of a walking, talking uncanny valley. As for the characters glimpsed in clips one and four, we have no idea who they are. The man in clip four could be Takeshi Kitano’s Chief Daisuke Aramaki, but it’s difficult to tell for sure.
Ghost in the Shell will be released on March 31, 2017. What do you think about the new teasers for this film? Download your thoughts to the comment section below!
