New DYING LIGHT Trailer Reminds Us That Zombies Were People Too

No heavy axe swings were held in the latest trailer for Dying Light, which gets philosophical on the same thing just about every other post-apocalyptic zombie narrative does, humanity. This is assuming you need the firm reminder that zombies were once people too, which I’m sure no one will be thinking about while driving one of the game’s large assortment of sharp and/or heavy objects into the cranium of any undead before them.

Though not as compelling as that Dead Island trailer that turned everyone’s heads a few years back, the bit is definitely still worth a look :

Zombie survival has never been spoken of with such eloquence and profundity.

Dying Light still doesn’t have an official release date, but is said to be hitting this year on the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, 360, and PC sometime this year.

I’m just going to assume that first post was a failed attempt at trolling or an example of how badly the public school system has failed in this country. The trailer looks interesting, though I’d definitely need to see more of it.

Seems like the reason the variation seems male heavy is likely because of the story for the game itself. It also seemed that “we” was in reference to all humans not just the group the narrator is a part of, regardless of sex.

  3. Gamer009 says:

I’m pretty sure no sexism was intentional. It’s going with the old adage that follows the old military sayings that say stuff like “fathers, sons, brothers”

  4. Bloodnut says:

@Delvecem I thought that was a bit odd as well, but i try no to look into that sort of thing too much. Without a statement from Techland/Warner Bros. It’s impossible to know if they actually meant anything by it.

  5. adam says:

hmm, no harm to you, but i think you’re missing the point. gender politics really has no relevance- surely the idea is to set the overall tone from the perspective of the protagonist.

  6. Delvecem says:

So…only fathers and sons survive. No women? Or does “we” only refer to a presumed all-male customer for the game.

Kinda ruins the eloquence for me.

Misogeny some habits die hard. What does it take to know you’ve seen it all before? Zombies are real they are the slaves that harvest the cane, these zombies are just propaganda machines for W and all that remember him with fondness. -A
