New Details Revealed About the STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Trailer

Who’s ready for some more intel about the trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens? Before we get to the latest and greatest, can I just say how impressed I am at how much coverage Disney and Lucasfilm have squeezed out of an 88 second tease? It’s borderline ridiculous. I’m feeding the problem because I’m eagerly lapping up any and all information and tuning into all the things that mention Episode VII–as are many fans–but I’m curious to see if this trend will continue with every trailer. Anyway, Jacob Bertrand (Kirby Buckets) shared some new tidbits in an “Inside The Force Awakens” special after the Star Wars Rebels marathon today on Disney XD.

Here are the not so big bombshells Bertrand revealed that you may or may not already know:

– The Aurebesh on Poe Dameron’s (Oscar Isaac) vest translates to “pull to inflate.” Fans who know how to read Aurebesh figured that out the weekend the trailer was released and also pointed out that the text is upside down.

– The goggles worn by Rey (Daisy Ridley) once belonged on a stormtrooper helmet. They’ve been scavenged or stolen and modified. Again, this was something many reaction posts to the teaser mentioned a few weeks ago with comparison photos.

The Force Awakens trailer was released in 47 different languages. Cool to know, I guess?

– The sound at the end of the trailer is Luke Skywalker’s original 1977 lightsaber powering on, which was already announced on Good Morning America.

And because I’ve seen rumors and speculation swirling, this brief “special” did not officially confirm that Tatooine is the desert planet at the beginning of the trailer. There were shots from the trailer with this voice over, “Recognize that ship, remember that planet, and of course, who could forget the X-wing fighters?” That’s far from specific. Is it a hint for Tatooine? Maybe, but it’s not confirmation.

Was any of this information about The Force Awakens teaser a surprise to you? Let us know in the comments!

  1. anxiousfan says:

Would love to be pointed to a podcast with chris chatting about the trailer

  2. Joe cavalier says:

The sound of the light saber at the end EVERYONE is saying is Luke Skywalkers …TOTALLY WRONG! It’s his fathers light saber…Luke didn’t construct his own until  Return of the Jedi

  3. SM says:

So what happened to “Inside The Force Awakens,” after the Star Wars Rebels on Sunday?  It seems it was cut off and never aired?? We waited for it, and they never showed it?  Did anyone get a chance to see what it was?

  4. JUS7IAN says:

So the BroadSaber is fighting Luke in the Snowy Forest?  If I got that right, then that is the coolest shit ever.

    • Tyler says:

Possibly, but that wasn’t what they were saying. Luke’s lightsaber sound is what you hear at the very end of the trailer after the December 2015 date.

      • Troy says:

I believe it’s Rey’s brother Jacen. (Sith Lord Darth Caedus) who’s built a new light saber out of his masters (Luke Skywalker’s) old one, hinch the same sound. But since his knowledge of building a light saber is crude, it maybe the reason why it doesn’t look as uniform and clean cut in the trailer.

      • Dave says:

Don’t forget, that lightsaber, originally Anakin’s, was lost in Luke’s first fight with Vader; I’m guessing it was included as a legacy item

  5. Pat C. says:

I still think that vehicle Rey’s riding might be an old Land Speeder like Lukes, turned on it’s side and hot-rodded…?

    • Dan says:

More likely she just slapped a seat onto an old pod racing engine.

    • Dave says:

I’m glad they showed both images from the speeder, because you can see a continuity error already when the gray cylinder that’s seen in the closeup is not shown when the speeder zooms away

      • Paul says:

They could just be from separate takes and we could be seeing her on the speeder a lot, or at least more than once. It’s not unreasonable to think she went to drop that off or went and picked it up on the speeder.

      • Scott says:

Yeah no one seems to be talking about that thing on the side of her speeder that’s only in the closeup: it looks like a tool or weapon harnessed onto the hull. These two shots must be from separate scenes.

  6. Orionsangel says:

    Fey Solo? Fey Skywalker?
    Finn Calrissian?

  7. WineGuy says:

Poetry Dameron ‘s vest has text upside-down because you are meant to read it while wearing it.
