For being a wildly successful first person shooter (sales wise), Destiny sure does garner a plethora of vitriol. Most recently, the controversy following the title like a dark gloomy cloud has been the fan reaction to the upcoming expansion, The Taken King. Bungie announced a horrendous price point that only insulted the most loyal of players.
Despite all of this, Sony and Bungie have become fruitful partners, and it looks like they will continue their partnership, announcing a brand new Destiny-themed limited edition PS4, set to release September 15th. This console is absolute fire. It’s all white, with the map of the cosmos displayed in silver on its front, and the Guardian’s golden crest prominently being displayed. Included in the packaging will be a physical Legendary Edition of The Taken King, with the digital collectors edition upgrade also included. Unfortunately, the Dualshock 4 has no special designâ it’s the same white one currently available at retailers.
As someone who has spent 200+ hours in the realm of the Destiny, I am not a fan of their recent practices, but there is no way I can throw shade their way for this slick design. It also won’t be the first PS4 bundle including the space shooterâ the standard “Glacier” white console at one point was also packaged with the title and a PS Plus subscription. This one is admittedly much better though.
Few designs will ever be superior to the 20th anniversary Ps4 classic look, however, but this one will look extremely nice on anyone’s shelves. It’s a shame that it will only include a 500 gb hard drive, but at least it will offer an opportunity to nab a larger hard drive and upgrade before you start it up.
Will you be purchasing this bundle? Will you even purchase the new expansion? Make sure to let us know in the comments section below. I am tempted to grab this hardware before it’s gone.
