G.I. JOE, M.A.S.K. Toys, MICRONAUTS, and More to Share Cinematic Universe

The Transformers franchise proved a toy-based movie could completely dominate box offices, and the critical and financial success of The Lego Movie demonstrated that it wasn’t just a fluke: Hollywood can make great movies about toys. Now, toy-makers Hasbro are teaming up with Paramount Pictures to bring some more beloved playthings to life on the big screen, combining a long list of their best-selling 1980s hero toys, and launching movie careers for G.I. Joe, Rom, M.A.S.K., Visionaries, and Micronauts. And based on the popularity of the interconnected films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe or the D.C. Cinematic Universe, they think a multi-film franchise is the way to go when they bring these soldiers, spacemen, robots, and post-apocalyptic knights to the silver screen. But, for those of us who don’t remember the evil Karza or what V.E.N.O.M. stands for, we’re gonna take a look at who in the heck these dolls were.

Join Jessica Chobot as we breakdown who all of these toy-based heroes from the 1980s are and discuss how they might translate to the big screen on today’s Nerdist News.
