There’s a battle brewing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe between the Avengers, as Team Cap and Team Iron Man come to blows in Captain America: Civil War. While the pictures and trailers for Civil War have focused on the conflict between the heroes, the film’s biggest villain has been downplayed. But that changes now!
Entertainment Weekly has released several new photos from Civil War, including a first look at Daniel Brühl as Helmut Zemo, a man comic book fans know better as Baron Zemo.
Sadly, Brühl won’t be wearing Zemo’s famous mask in the movie, but EW indicates that he will be manipulating the conflict between Iron Man and Captain America for his own nefarious purposes.
The EW story also features an image of Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa a.k.a. Black Panther out of his signature superhero costume.
While Black Panther appears to have a personal vendetta against the Winter Soldier, Boseman told EW why T’Challa is siding with Iron Man against Captain America. “He comes into it because, as a world leader, there is a need to make sure there is some sort of control over these superpowers,” said Boseman. “Itâs like if there were nuclear weapons, the world leaders would come together at the U.N. and decide who should have them. Itâs the same thing with superheroes. He has an interest in making sure this power doesnât go without some restraints and control and some limitations.”
A few of the new Captain America: Civil War images can be seen in our gallery below, but head over to EW if you want to see the rest, including the new four-part EW cover that features Team Cap vs. Team Iron Man. Captain America: Civil War will be released on May 6.
