Have you caught up with Charlie Brooker‘s devastating, prescient series Black Mirror yet? The British TV show was brought to Netflix in 2014 where it had all six episodes of the anthology series about technology being just slightly ahead of where it is now, and the terrifying things that can happen to humanity as a result. The most recent episode, a 2014 Christmas special starring Mad Men‘s Jon Hamm, made it to Netflix a few months back, but it was announced last year that the streaming service would be producing 12 new episodes of the series, aimed at a global market. We now have a bit of casting development to report.

While it’s not much, we do know that two actresses have been cast in an episode penned by Brooker to be directed by Owen Harris (Kill Your Friends), and both actresses have a bit of sci-fi pedigree. First is British actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw who won acclaim for her role in 2013’s Belle and 2015’s Concussion. She also portrayed Martha Jones’ sister Tish in four episodes of Doctor Who series 3. The second is Canadian actress Mackenzie Davis, who was one of the massive international cast for Ridley Scott’s The Martian and is a lead on AMC’s Halt and Catch Fire.

Zero word yet on anything else pertaining to the episode or the rest of the Netflix-produced version of the Channel 4 hit, but presumably they’re going to give Brooker free reign to do many, many things. And with 12 episodes, literally double what had been made in two series in the UK, we’re going to get a lot of very harrowing, likely very disturbing parables about the dangers of technology. And if they keep casting actors as good as Mbatha-Raw and Mackenzie, we’re going to be in for a very good show indeed.
